The Living Years, Senior Village’s annual sweetheart dance, has become a coveted gala event for the 190 residents.
And again, for the third year in a row, Edgar and Elizabeth Harden gingerly, soft-shoed around the dance floor, occasionally strutting to the harmonizing tunes of their 1940s big band favorites.

The other residents, seated at their dinner tables encircling the dance floor, were captivated by the Hardens’ dance performance with the joyous atmosphere created by the mesmerizing tunes and the dancing couple. Everyone tapped their feet and swayed from side to side, with smiles reflecting their joyous experience.

The Hardens have become an inspiring, uplifting, and integral part of the senior community. Their morning, noon, and evening walks in the garden, holding one another along with cuddling during movie nights, and routinely seated closely at each meal, warming the hearts of every resident and employee.

After Thursday’s parmesan chicken dinner and dessert, Edgar placed his seat cushion under his right knee to propose marriage to Elizabeth.
His movements captured everyone’s attention, bringing a peaceful silence to the dining room when he slid a diamond ring onto her finger. When she acknowledged with a slow nod of yes, everyone applauded.
